5 Strategies to Stay Healthy as a Student

Contents

University for me can be summed up in the following phrase – Lectures, socially awkward moments (most of the time), 3000 word papers (if you’re lucky) and God forbid group assignments.

I used most of my spare time in college to workout. I realized that eating healthy on a student schedule was not the easiest thing to achieve. It was a pipe dream for most of the other students to come even close to eating healthy. The most common reason I found was that most of the students either didn’t know how to cook or didn’t have the time to do it. As a result, they were dependent on their housekeeper to cook their food and pouring bottles of oil in food was one of their favorite activities.

Therefore this entire situation boils down to 2 basic problems –

  1. Lack of Time
  2. Lack of Cooking skills

That’s why I came up with these 5 easy strategies to stay healthy as a student , which help you work around these problems –

  1. Smoothies
  2. Salads
  3. Salads + Smoothies
  4. Supplements
  5. Uninstall Food Delivery Apps
The first 3 are cooking strategies which can be used to make simple recipes with minimal time investment. Whereas the last 2 are optional but will greatly improve your overall health nonetheless if you choose to implement them.

Smoothies

The fastest meal you can make for yourself as they are very easy to make and carry, require no cooking and you can just gulp it in under a minute. Here’s a handy recipe for you which is my personal favorite –

Use the above recipe as a template to come up with variations that you will enjoy.

Salads

Require minimal to no cooking. Have a very dense micronutrient profile and are very satiating due to the high fibre and water content.

Salads + Smoothies

Combine different salads and smoothies to create different meals. Decide which combinations you’ll consume on what day and you’ll make your life a lot easier.

Supplements

Consume the following supplements to ensure you don’t miss out on crucial vitamins and minerals. Vitamin B12 and D3 are highly recommended as it is difficult to acquire them through food and almost everyone is deficient in them.

Uninstall Food Delivery Apps

I know you probably hate this option the most. But its highly unlikely that you will end up ordering anything healthy through these apps as healthy food tends to be super expensive when ordered. Uninstalling is especially recommended if you’re someone who’s very vulnerable to ordering food online. These applications tend to make you very lazy by constantly notifying you with offers. So first, uninstall these before you take charge of your health!

And there you have it! Those are the 5 strategies to stay healthy as a student , which will help you achieve a better health profile than you currently possess. Here is a final summary infographic for you –
